Description:

Position Summary: Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and order of a building or facility. Their duties involve cleaning various surfaces, removing trash, and performing routine maintenance tasks. 

Essential Functions:

• Keeps building and property in clean and orderly condition.
• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, or vacuums floors.
• Gathers and empties trash.
• Scrubs, sanitizes, and supplies restroom facilities.
• Dusts furniture, walls, and equipment.
• Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers.
• Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.
• Cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures.
• Manages inventory of cleaning supplies.
• Notifies managers regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems.

Qualifications

• Gain trust, respect, and good working relationships with all shift supervisors, management team, co-workers, and other employees. 

• Develop knowledge of the production environment and layout of the shop. 

• Obtain necessary training requirements and safety procedures 

Physical Requirements 

• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull cleaning supplies, equipment, and materials weighing up to 25 pounds, with heavier items handled using mechanical assistance or team support as needed.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while performing custodial tasks on hard surfaces such as concrete and tile.

• Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach, and stretch to clean floors, restrooms, fixtures, furniture, windows, and equipment.

• Ability to perform repetitive motions using hands, arms, shoulders, and upper body during cleaning activities.

• Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and supplies in accordance with training, labeling, and safety procedures.

• Sufficient visual acuity to identify cleanliness issues, read instructions and labels, recognize safety hazards, and complete basic documentation. 

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a manufacturing and facilities environment and includes routine exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, dirt, airborne particles, temperature variations, and moderate to elevated noise levels, all within OSHA-permissible limits. The role requires regular movement throughout the facility, including work on concrete and tile floors, ramps, stairways, and uneven walking surfaces. Assigned tasks may require entry into warehouse or production areas while following posted safety procedures. Required personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, eye protection, and safety footwear, must be worn as designated. Some assignments may require limited outdoor work or movement between buildings, resulting in exposure to varying weather conditions.
